This weeks outfit is all about incorporating the tricky underwear to outerwear concept into an everyday, winter appropriate, look. As you can see I am wearing a velvet long line bralet/tank over the top of my knitted dress. I would usually choose to wear this bralet as well… a bralet but it’s so flattering it deserves better than being hidden away. I’ve been playing with this idea for a while and I adore the sexy yet understated feel it creates and by pairing it with simple garments it can become the focus of the outfit.
I am aware this has been done many times with lace bra’s over tops and such but I’ve never seen a longer-line version (plus velvet is super on trend) so I thought i’d give it a try. To make it seasonally appropriate I paired it with my gorgeous grey knitted dress that I picked up a while back from a charity shop. I decided to make my accompanying accessories simpler still by wearing fishnet tights instead of normal thick denier tights that would of created an oppressive bottom half and some plain grey boots from Primark. The bag is a new one I bought in Brighton and the colours complement this look so well. Lastly, I decided to get creative and make my own grey metallic lipstick using eyeliner and highlighter (that’s a story for another day) which absolutely rocks! I think anyway. This look is subtle enough for day to day but really stands out due to the bold lines of the bralet.
